For the fashionistas out there into your Tel Aviv fashion, you’ll be delighted to hear that the Tel Aviv Fashion Week now has a competitor, taking place in December!
Thanks to some typically Israeli bickering and clash of egos, the organizers behind the original event (which took place in November) split up and decided to each hold their own fashion event.
The original event (see here for more details) took place on November 11-13 at HaTachana in Tel Aviv, and concentrated more on the young Israeli designers that perhaps wouldn’t have got a shout-out in the original event. It also featured a guest appearance from Italian fashion house Moschino.
The second event, the Israel Fashion Week-Gindi Tel Aviv, will take place on December 16-19 at the Gindi wholesale market complex in south Tel Aviv, and feature more established names such as Dorin Frankfurt, and Gideon and Karen Oberson.
Not sure what this means in the long term, as the government bodies and tourism ministry were originally promoting the main event, and not two events. Hopefully things will sort themselves out – in the meantime, fashion fans are the winners!
