The Inbal Hotel, Jerusalem: a superb choice for a stay in the Holy City

If you’re looking for a classy hotel in Jerusalem, we’re going to point you in the direction of the superb Inbal Hotel!

We recently stayed a night at the Inbal Hotel and were won over by a few factors that might just convince you too…the location, with its proximity to the Old City of Jerusalem and the stunningly charming neighborhood of Yemin Moshe (the ‘hood with the windmill – which you might be lucky enough to see from your room!), the great, friendly service, the renovated rooms, and the superb starters at the in-house Sofia restaurant!

The Inbal Hotel isn’t for the super budget-conscious, but if you’re looking for somewhere awesome to rest your weary head, this is the place for you! It’s also no surprise that the Inbal regularly makes the list of the best luxury hotels in Israel AND one of the best 5 family hotels in Jerusalem! Next time we’ll be bringing the kids!

10 minutes from the Old City…

With the legendary must-see Old City just a few minutes walk away, the Inbal Hotel is superbly situated! You’re also not far from the superb shopping options at Mamilla Mall, as well as a quick walk away from the delightful neighborhood of Yemin Moshe (in our opinion one of Jerusalem’s hidden gems!).

We had a great time walking through this neighborhood, with the camera clicking away like nobody’s business! We even ventured down to Park Teddy (another two minutes walk from Yemin Moshe)…and with the April sun proving pretty overbearing (it’s April in Israel – it does get hot!), really felt like joining the kids who were enjoying the water fountains in the park. As I might have mentioned already – next time with the kids, definitely!

I should also point out that from many of the rooms you can see views out over the Old City, as well as “new” Jerusalem. And failing that, the Executive Lounge on the top floor has an amazing balcony view, which gives you a superb view out over some of the Old City. Not one to miss! And if you can’t make it to the Inbal Hotel itself, try accessing their awesome new 360 degree camera, located on the roof of the hotel, and accessible from their website (read more here).

Awesome service

The service at the Inbal Hotel was great. They had a relaxed reception staff who knew what they were doing and where to point us in the right direction. The waiters in the Sofia restaurant and at the wonderful morning breakfast room – as well as the lovely lady in the Executive Lounge on the top floor (unfortunately I didn’t catch her name) – were also impressively polite and charming. Personally, we hate those hotel staff who try a little too hard, but the guys and girls at the Inbal were really great! And it’s always a nice feeling to be remembered by staff, who recalled our visit to their tasty Summer Grill last year!

The renovated rooms

The Inbal Jerusalem HotelThe hotel has recently undergone some extensive renovations, and the previously somewhat dull rooms have been turned into some really lovely rooms. Have to say, I’m not the biggest shower fan in the world (you can verify with Mrs iGoogled!), but really loved the new showers at the Inbal!

We stayed in a spacious Executive Room, and loved it! These rooms are perfect if you’re looking for something a little more spacious than the typical standard rooms. But hey, with all that amazing history just a few minutes walk away, how much time are you going to spend in your room anyway?!

There are some other great room options if you can spring for them, especially the Old City suites that have some amazing balcony views towards the Old City.

The Sofia restaurant

The in-house Sofia restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We enjoyed a late-night dinner there, and were very impressed. The waiters were great and very attentive, but again, not over attentive. But one word of warning: the starters are pretty big, so turn up hungry! In fact, our starters were probably some of the best starters we’ve ever tasted (something we both agreed on), they were simply finger-licking good! Just so you know – I took the Mushroom and Parmesan Polenta, Mrs iGoogled took the Spinach Salad with Goat Cheese. Wow, just thinking about those two starters has got my mouth watering once again…

Other hotel delights to enjoy

There’s also a great pool to enjoy (we didn’t get to try it out, but hopefully next time!), and a nice spacious lobby to chill-out in. The breakfast was very tasty, with lots of good variety and quality. For the religiously observant there’s a Shabbat elevator and separate meat and dairy menus. And for the always-on generation, there’s free wifi!
