Pecha Kucha returns to Tel Aviv!

Pecha Kucha Tel Aviv 12If you fancy an awesome night of art and creativity, then the now legendary Pecha Kucha is the place to be on November 8…

This is the 12th Pecha Kucha show (they seem to happen to or three times a year, the last one was back in February), and for those of you who don’t know, these unique nights have become an amazing melting pot of artists, animators, photographers, industrial designers, and even dancers – all on one stage.

Pecha Kucha was originally launched in Tokyo some 8 years ago and has now taken place in well over 400 cities around the world (including Kabul in Afghanistan!). The Tel Aviv Pecha Kucha has now become one of the biggest in the world, if not THE biggest.

I’m not sure any of the presentations are in English (by the way, according to Pecha Kucha rules, each presentation is no longer than 6 minutes and 40 seconds), but art doesn’t always need words, right?

Tickets went on sale yesterday and are already unavailable from the main website, but you might be lucky and grab some at Loveat cafes in Tel Aviv (at Barzilay 1, Nahalat Binyamin 3 and Dizengoff 232), or at Ozen HaShlishit, King George 48. But be quick, they get snapped up sharpish, and are only 20 shekels each. In what seems to be a new move, there are also plans to broadcast the event live on one of the big Israeli news sites, but this hasn’t yet been confirmed.

The event will take place once again at Hangar 11, in Tel Aviv Port (Namal Tel Aviv), and the first round of shows kicks off at 7:30pm.

Here’s a glimpse of some of the art presented at the last Pecha Kucha event earlier this year…
