UPDATE: Opera in the Park is back for 2016 – more here!
Mark it in your diaries, culture buffs – July 19 is the return of Opera at the Park in Tel Aviv’s HaYarkon Park!
The annual Opera at the Park performance has become one of Tel Aviv’s major summer events, and is enjoyed by thousands every time.
The Opera at the Park first started in 2001, and has become a great way for many thousands of opera lovers to enjoy the Israeli Opera in action. The annual shows have been promoted strongly by the Tel Aviv Municipality, and as a result crowds have even reached 100,000 (for 2003’s Nabucco Opera performance). Last year’s performance was of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
This year’s opera is a unique production of Rigoletto, by Verdi. Soloists from the Israeli Opera who will be performing include Carlos Almaguer (Rigoletto), Given Nkosi (Duca), Vladimir Braun (Sparafucile), and Noah Briger (Monterone).
Our hot tip: take along a blanket and a bottle of wine, and relaxxxx…and remember, it ain’t over til the fat lady sings!
And yes, it’s free to enter; just head over to HaYarkon Park, follow the crowds, and grab your spot!
