Open House Tel Aviv: a weekend of amazing homes and buildings

The annual Open House Tel Aviv (Batim Mibifnim – Houses from Within – as it’s known in Hebrew) is a great way to see some of Tel Aviv’s most awesome houses and buildings. In 2021 it’s back after a Corona hit 2020… you can get to see hundreds of unique homes and designs – all for free and open to all.

The 2021 Open House weekend is June 17-19.

Yes, mark it in your diaries!

Here’s a full list of the houses and buildings you can get to see. Some require reservation, most don’t. There are some great and amazing designs to see, check the list out.

Our personal tips: guided tours at the posh and iconic Meier on Rothschild Tower (42 floors high!), the amazing French Ambassador’s residence in Jaffa, guided tours at the Bialik House the home of Israel`s national poet (requires registration), and the Graffiti and Street Art tour in Florentin (requires registration).

Open House Tel Aviv started in 2007, and was inspired by similar events in London and New York. Tel Aviv does, of course, have some amazing buildings to see, and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its concentration of buildings designed in the International Style.

In addition to touring some of Tel Aviv’s more established buildings, Open House also lets you experience some of Tel Aviv’s younger designers and architects. These younger guys use a lot of original thinking, innovative use of raw materials and are typically very environmentally-conscious.

And yes, there’s a place for kids too. For example, in an effort to push kids beyond their urban setup, every year there’s a workshop that helps build a mud shack in the yard of a kindergarten located in downtown Tel Aviv. This shack is then used by the kindergarten kids throughout the summer.

For more details, keep a track of events as they are confirmed on the Open House Facebook page.
