Masks Off as Israel opens up!

Today, June 15, marks a rather special day in the fight against Corona – Israel officially lifted the requirement to wear masks in confined spaces/indoors!

After what seems to have been a long, tortuous year and a bit, those surgical masks are finally destined for the bin. Or at least we really really hope so…this pandemic is still rampant across the world unfortunately, and I think it’s probably a good idea to not count any chickens just yet…

And to be absolutely precise: There is still a requirement to don a mask for those unvaccinated and visiting healthcare facilities, people on their way to quarantine, and airplane passengers. But with numbers dwindling fast – there were once 88,000 active cases in Israel; as of mid-June 2021 there were 212 active infections and 29 people in serious condition – one of the last Coronavirus restrictions has been removed.

Now all we need is for those borders to open and flights to start up again, at least for those vaccinated. Fingers crossed you’re here soon, visiting some of Israel’s must-sees!
