UPDATE: Could November 2021 be the magic month?!
Nobody really knows when the borders will open again in Israel, but there are apparently talks of bilateral agreements with countries with low COVID-19 rates, like Cyprus.
We’re sure Israel’s aviation and tourism industry will be delighted to hear that news, as the Corona virus is largely under control in Israel. However, for those of you still waiting to visit Israel with baited breath to check out Israel’s must-see sites, you’ll have to wait a little longer…
How much longer?
Well, currently (end of May 2020) there is still a ban on non-Israeli passport holders coming into the country – and even Israelis returning from their travels have to do a 14-day self-isolation. That ban officially lasts until mid-June, but there are suggestions that it will be extended further until the end of the month. Buggar.
The only thing that is brightening up our day is the news that there is apparently a green list of countries that Israel might be ready to arrange some kind of travel deal with, including Israel’s neighbors Greece and Cyprus, as well as Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia and the Seychelles among others. This list of countries will only include places that still bar tourists from red countries like the US, to reduce the danger of Israeli tourists being infected while abroad.
But…these agreements are not going to do a lot for the most of you, and are more aimed at the local tourism market. Until we hear more, don’t forget to check out the delights of Jerusalem, or start planning that 48 hour trip to Tel Aviv…
