OK, so if Eilat is on your radar, you’re probably keen to know what the Eilat weather has in store for you…and to cut a long story short, expect a ton of sun!
Eilat is, of course, located some distance south of both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, putting it even closer to that equatorial heat you can expect from the Middle East. OK, Eilat is still a fair distance from the Equator, but it’s still bloody hot, especially those of us from cooler climes!

What kind of temperatures can you expect in Eilat?
Expect hot! The Eilat weather is basically based around a hot, desert climate (Eilat is located at the far southern end of the Negev desert).
That means you can expect summer temperatures in Eilat to be around 26 – 40 °C (79 – 104 °F). From personal experience, that kinda heat is a little stifling, especially in the middle of the day (when practically every day for 3-4 months you can expect maximums of 40 °C), so expect to be poolside or submerged in the Red Sea. Snorkeling has to be on the agenda, but remember to cover up and splash on the sunscreen. And yes, summers in Eilat are approximately 9 months long!
If you’re heading to Eilat in the winter, expect the Eilat weather to be a little kinder. The winter temperatures in Eilat are around 11 – 23 °C (52 – 73 °F), which is obviously much more pleasant, and for those of you used to snow-packed winters, Eilat winters (which last for around 3 months) are positively summerish! The Red Sea might be a little chilly at that time of the year, but it’s still doable (I joined this great sailing and snorkeling tour at the end of November and had a great time!).

Does it ever rain in Eilat?
Yes, but only rarely! When you take into consideration the average annual precipitation is only about 29 mm, the chances of your needing an umbrella are very slim! The risk of having your vacation in Eilat obliterated by rain is a very teeny weeny risk – with approximately just 10 days of rain a year in Eilat, you can surely expect a ton of sun!
