The Fresh Paint Contemporary Art Fair, which this year runs from May 15-19, draws thousands of art fans every year and provides an opportunity to see what’s hot and happening in the Israel / Tel Aviv art scene. Fresh Paint has quickly become one of Israel’s most influential art events of the year.
Fresh Paint 5 (yes, it’s in its fifth year) will be taking place at the New High School, 3 Shoshana Persits Street, in Tel Aviv (the Azorei Chen neighborhood).
As usual, there will be many of the leading art galleries here, as well as some of the leading art figures in Israel. There will also be the unique Greenhouse, which highlights the work of some select, independent Israeli artists. Special pride is taken in the other more communal efforts taken on by Fresh Paint, including an educational program of lectures and encounters with Israeli art and artists.
In addition, Fresh Paint’s supporter, collector Igal Ahouvi, awards the Most Promising Artist award each year to an independent artist presenting at the Fresh Paint Greenhouse. The prize of 40,000 shekels is not to be sneezed at, and also means a solo exhibition at next year’s Fresh Paint. In addition, one noteworthy work by an independent artist is selected for sale at the Sotheby’s Israeli art auction in New York.
So, yes, lots of art! For more about this amazing week of art, see the official website.
