The 2015-16 ski season is now open in Israel!

Mount Hermon - yes, a ski resort in Israel!

Hard to believe it, we know, but yes, the 2015-16 ski season has just opened in Israel!

The ski slopes on Mount Hermon recently opened as the first snowy blast of winter enabled the ski resort to welcome skiers and snowboarders alike.

At an altitude of 2020 meters above sea level, the Hermon ski resort covers about 45 miles of tracks which offer enjoyment for snowboarding and skiing enthusiasts at all levels. The site has 11 cable cars and ski lifts with T – Bar, a Ski School and ski equipment rental shop.  There are even two courses on the map that are competitive Olympic-level ski courses, recognized by the International F.I.S Ski Federation. So yes, if skiing is your game, the Hermon has you covered!

Visitors who do not want to ski can enjoy various entertainment options including snow sledding and “Extreme” mountain slides – or just head up on the upper cable car and enjoy the magnificent views.  There are also stores to purchase ski equipment, with a cafe and restaurants on site.

What is possibly the most amazing thing about skiing in Israel is the ability to ski in the morning – and snorkel in the late afternoon / evening! For those of you with a taste for adrenaline, the winter sun resort of Eilat on the Red Sea is just a few hours’ drive or plane ride away, with warm winter sunshine, and plenty of watersports and other extreme mountain sports on offer.

One word of warning: Israelis love visiting a snow-topped Mount Hermon, so if there’s been a recent snow flurry expect to be stuck in some very heavy traffic!
