Stephen Malkmus, ex-Pavement frontman, heading to Tel Aviv for an August concert!

stephen malkmus tel avivStephen Malkmus has joined the throngs of talent heading to the Holy Land this summer, and has lined up a concert in Tel Aviv on August 22.

Malkmus, the ex-frontman of one of indie music’s legendary bands, Pavement, will be performing at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv. Tickets range from 179 – 219 shekels. For more info about tickets, see the Barby website (in Hebrew only unfortunately), or call 03-5188123.

Pavement were one of America’s finest alternative rock bands through the 1990s, but split acrimoniously in 1999. They never really hit the big time but did become quite a polished act over their 10-year career and had a huge cult following. A reunion tour in 2010 was a success, but that was all it was ever going to be…

Malkmus will beĀ  here as a solo artist, and continuing to promote his much acclaimed solo album Mirror Traffic, which came out last summer.

Here he is performing one of the controversial songs from that album, The Senator…listen to the lyrics!
