If you love your Prog Rock, the Sea of Galilee is your destination in early October, as the ProgStage 2012 Festival hits the north of Israel!
The festival was only launched last year, in Petah Tikva, but after its resounding success things have been expanded for this second festival, with three days of international and Israeli bands to savor.
The festival takes place over 4-6 October, at Dugal Beach, on the north eastern side of the Sea of Galilee, and some of the bands lined up to perform over the three days include:
- Osada Vida
- The Flower kings
- Andromeda
- Pain of Salvation
- Orphaned Land (one of Israel’s most successful rock bands)
During the festival there will be a number of activities to enjoy, including yoga and meditation classes, art workshops, activities for the kids, clothes/jewelry/tattoo and piercing stands, DJs spinning some tunes during the day and between concerts, camping grounds with bathrooms and showers, food and beverage stands, and much more! In addition, on the second day of the festival, the 5th October, the Luna Gal water park (next to Dugal Beach) will be free to access between 10:00-16:00.
Tickets for the entire three days cost 450 shekels, but soldiers get a discount and kids under 12 get in for free. There are also a number of other ticket options, such as one day tickets (ranging from 140 shekels to 280 shekels) or two day tickets – see the official site for more details. For the latest festival news, see the official Facebook page.
It looks like this festival is one to catch and definitely watch over the coming years! In the meantime, here’s a taster of what Israeli band Orphaned Land can do for you…
