Legendary bassist Peter “Hooky” Hook, co-founder of two of the biggest bands to ever come out of the north of England, Joy Division and New Order, is coming to Israel!
The man behind those thumping bass-lines of many a classic (think “Transmission”, “Blue Monday”, or “Bizarre Love Triangle”) has promised to make good on a pledge to visit the Holy Land, something that was originally scheduled back in 1979 in the final days of Joy Division…and has now confirmed November 23rd at Reading 3, in Tel Aviv Port as the venue.
Hooky will be here with his new band The Light, following his acrimonious split from New Order after a fallout with fellow co-founder Bernard Sumner. New Order have vowed to keep performing without Peter Hook, but as he puts it, “New Order without Peter Hook is like Queen without Freddie Mercury”.
Tickets will be 259 shekels, for more info call 03-7624000.
In the meantime, here’s a clip of Peter Hook in action, his band The Light performing the Joy Division classic “Atmosphere”…
