May 2013 is a record-busting month for tourism to Israel!

Tel Aviv viewThey keep on coming!

May 2013 was yet another record-breaking month for tourism to Israel, with the month ending up as the BEST EVER!

Some 336,000 visitors arrived in Israel in May 2013, 5% up on May 2012, 9% up on 2011 and 2010. Of these, 283,000 were tourists (staying more than one night), 5% more than in May 2012, 6% more than in 2011 and 11% more than May 2010.

There were some 241,000 entries via air (6% up on last year). 42,000 arrived through the border crossings, as in May 2012; 30,000 came through the border with Jordan (a 5% decrease) and 12,000 through Taba and Eilat (12% up on last May).

What does that mean for the year’s figures to date? Well, since the start of 2013, 1.4 million visitors arrived in Israel, which is 1% up on the same period in 2012, 7% more than 2011 and 5% more than 2010. This is yet another record figure for the months Jan-May!

With Open Skies (the opening of Israel’s skies to other airlines) on the horizon, and a government seemingly willing to invest in tourism, those numbers are only going to go up baby!
