After what seems like a series of endless rumors, but with definite signs that a concert in Tel Aviv was being lined up, Madonna has finally confirmed she’ll be performing in Tel Aviv in May!
The official details are now official, as given in an official press release yesterday from the tour production company Live Nation Global Touring, and confirm that Madonna will be performing in Tel Aviv on May 29th! Mark it in your diaries! The concert is actually going to be at Ramat Gan Stadium, which is not officially Tel Aviv, but hey, we’re not complaining! There were even rumors that she was coming for TWO gigs, but the official press release only mentions the one, so we’ll have to make do with that…UPDATE: Madonna has confirmed a second concert, dubbed the Concert for Peace, on May 31.
After catching her live at her concerts in Tel Aviv back in 2009, we can vouch that this is one show you shouldn’t miss, whatever you think of the woman herself. The lady is pure entertainment (er, half-time Super Bowl XLVI performance anyone?), and a must-see for any music fan. We’ll be there.
The MDNA tour is expected to be the highest grossing tour ever for a solo artist, and will take Madonna to corners of the globe even she has yet to reach! She’ll also be returning to Australia after a 20 year absence – so Israeli fans, next time you’re feeling hard done by, remember that!
The man behind the tour, Arthur Fogel, CEO of Live Nation Global Touring, had this to say:
Whatever there is to be said, the facts speak for themselves: she’s never been bigger, and she’s a great performer with a great catalog and a great new record. She’s one of those iconic legends at the top of her game.
Tickets go on sale February 10th – and for more info on tickets, which are going for as little as 240 shekels, see the Eventim website (or call: *9066)! In the meantime, have a glimpse of what she was like on her last visit to the Holy Land…
