Last in Israel back in 2009, indie rockers Calexico are returning for TWO concerts in Tel Aviv!
The band who are often branded as an Americana / Tex Mex / Indie band, with definite country influences (decide for yourselves by taking a peek at the clip below), will be performing at Tel Aviv’s Barby Club on February 28, and March 1.
Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Joey Burns and John Convertino are the two main characters behind the band, drawing on a mutual admiration for all things deep Southwestern, including composer Ennio Morricone’s spaghetti Westerns, Portuguese fado, Afro-Peruvian music, and ’50s and ’60s jazz, country, and surf music.
Calexico will be here as part of their promotional tour for their new album Algiers, recorded in and inspired by New Orleans.
If you’re up for it, join Calexico on their official Facebook page for more info and news.
