Twenty years (yes, I recall the night!) after they first played Israel, and two years after they pulled the plug on two planned gigs in 2010, Guns and Roses have confirmed a concert in Tel Aviv in July 2012!
UPDATE: The concert has now been confirmed for July 3rd! Tickets are priced at 290 shekels until the end of April, when they’ll go up a bit. VIP tickets are priced at 750 shekels! And also confirmed as opening, another top band from the 90s – Ugly Kid Joe! For more ticket info, call 03-5247373.
The band that ruled the tour circuit in the 80s and early 90s, and who still lay claim to the highest-selling debut album of all time in the United States (Appetite for Destruction, which sold 18 million copies), have apparently all but signed on the dotted line, according to Hebrew press reports. The concert is scheduled for HaYarkon Park.
The original classic line up is now whittled down to legendary front man Axel Rose, but with rumors of peace-mongering in the Guns and Roses camp, there is hope that at least some of the original members, including Slash and Duff McKagan, will be heading to Israel too.
In the meantime, here’s a flashback to the song that really catapulted them into super-stardom…
