America, the legendary folk rock band from the UK, will be performing in Israel this August!
The band, most famous for their monster hit Horse With No Name, will be performing at the Ranaana Ampitheater on August 7. Tickets start at 190 shekels, call *9080 for details.
The band were originally formed back in 1970, and up until 2009 were regularly performing 100 concerts a year. Those concerts were usually sellouts, thanks to their fore mentioned hit, plus others like Sister Golden Hair, You Can Do Magic, and Lonely People.
Called America because they did not want anyone to think they were British musicians trying to sound American, the band quickly became superstars, capped in 1972 by winning a Grammy for best new act. With the inevitable band member changes and bringing on board of different music producers (George Martin), the band still continued with their success through the 70s.
