Elton John is coming to Israel!

Yesterday saw the list of star performers coming to Israel in 2010 get a little bit longer with the news that Elton John has officially confirmed a date with the Holy Land on June 17th. It’s been rumored for a while now, but with an official sponsor now in place (Bank Discount), the deal is done. Tickets go on sale to the Bank’s customers only on February 9th, with the general public able to get their hands on some Elton on the 13th.

It’s been 17 years (not 27 as some websites are suggesting) since Elton John was last in Israel. That last visit started farcically, as hounded by Israeli paparazzi he got straight back on a plane to the UK. Elton eventually did return to perform a couple of days later in Tel Aviv. Let’s hope that he has a more pleasant experience this time round in the Holy Land.

The concert itself is to take place in the Ramat Gan stadium (where Depeche Mode and Leonard Cohen performed last year). Tickets are set to go for 300-1000 shekels, though if you’re a Bank Discount customer you’ll get them slightly cheaper.

Nice one Elton! The Holy Land awaits!

And here’s a little reminder of what he will be performing. According to his official website, which still hasn’t got the Israel show listed, he has recently added this song to his live shows…
