Celebrate Election Day in Haifa with pub shows, shopping and as little politics as possible!

Haifa election dayIf the Israeli elections are leaving you a little, er, dry, then a visit to Haifa could be in order on Election Day!

Tuesday the 22nd January is of course, Election Day in Israel. For those of you who have the right to vote in Israel, please do your civic duty. Once done, go out and enjoy the rest of the day!

We’d highly recommend heading to Downtown Haifa (the lower, flatter part of Haifa) during the day, where you’ll find an artisan fair in the Turkish market, live music bars, shops, pubs, restaurants, activities and juggling performances for all the family.

The live music shows include an electronic early afternoon DJ party at the Martef pub (04-8532367), and a jazz session at the Pola bar (057-9444166). See here for an official list of shows (Hebrew only).

Another bonus for those visiting Haifa on Election Day – rides on the Carmelit subway are FREE all day – definitely worth the steep ride up the mountain!

Election Day is a national holiday in Israel, so the kids will be off school and everywhere quick and accessible is likely to be packed – just a heads up from us, based on years of experience…

Happy Voting for those of you eligible!
