NEW: Take the ferry from Haifa to Akko and enjoy some spectacular views of the north!

haifa to akko ferryFor those of you wanting to explore the north of Israel, you’ll be pleased to know there’s now a ferry from Haifa to Akko (Acre)!

This new (launched in November 2016) service ensures that visitors to the cities of Haifa and Akko can now shuttle between the two cities almost at will, with ferries operating several times a day, seven days a week (weather permitting).

The boat ride offers a beautiful, scenic alternative to the road option, with stunning views of the Carmel Mountains, downtown Haifa, the northern coastline, and the colorful and authentic fishing port at Akko.

There’s also music and an automated recording to enjoy, which will tell the history of all the people who controlled the area, and their impact on the region – from the Romans and the Mamluks to the Crusaders and the British.

The ferry service currently runs from Haifa at 11:00 and 16:00, and from Akko at 10:00 and 15:00, which is the schedule that will run up until Pessach / Passover 2017 (after that it will be updated, with new summer rides expected, according to customer demand). The ride itself takes around 45 minutes, and tickets cost 30 shekels one-way, or 55 shekels for a return ticket. On weekdays, tickets can be purchased one hour before departure, and on weekends, 90 minutes before departure (depending on availability). Tickets can be purchased up to 30 minutes before departure.

Pre-booking (not necessary) can be made at 04-9956706/7.
