Well, they keep on coming!
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, a record-breaking 342,000 tourists visited Israel in April 2014, up 14% on last year’s record breaking April. Impressive stuff, ye olde Holy Land!
296,000 entries were by air, up 16% on April 2013, of which 9,500 arrived on direct flights to Eilat. 46,000 tourists came through the border crossings.
43,000 entries were recorded by day visitors, 20% down on April 2013, although 24,000 of these arrived on cruise ships, 19% up on last April.
Overall the year is progressing very nicely, with the January-April 2014 numbers totaling 1.16 million visitors (including day visitors), 5% up on the same period in 2013. Of these, 1.05 million were tourists, 16% more than 2013.
If I were a betting man, I’d say a record breaking year is very much on the cards again! I’ll get my finger out and start writing up some more things for you to see and do in Israel!
