First it was Enrique, now Julio Iglesias returns to Tel Aviv!

Julio Iglesias Tel AvivIt seems the Iglesias clan can’t keep away from the Holy Land in 2011…

First it was Enrique, back in May, when he wowed the crowd at the Nokia Hall in Tel Aviv. And now Dad, Julio, the Latin crooner supreme, is coming to perform at the same venue on December 12th. And yes, Julio was last here in 2009, when he performed two sellout gigs.

Julio José Iglesias de la Cueva (yes, yes, that’s his official name) will be here to perform his classics, and we’d like to think his gig is perhaps an early Christmas present for his many fans in Israel. Ticket info is still not published, but we’ll keep you posted.

If you’re a guy into the Latin hunk, we estimate you’re going to be outnumbered in the region of 1000-1 by members of the fairer sex. Just so you know…

Julio Iglesias will be 68 in September, and still sells millions of records around the world. He is by far Spain’s best selling singer, with some 300 million records sold in a variety of languages, making him one of the top ten selling performers of all time. And it’s also estimated that he has performed some 5000 gigs in his career.

Some interesting facts about Julio Iglesias:

  • He was a professional footballer with Real Madrid, where he played as goalkeeper.
  • He enrolled in law school.
  • At the age of 20 he was in a serious car crash that left him sick for 3 years; his legs to this day still require therapy.
  • 7 years ago, his 89 year old father gave him a brother and two years later, a sister!
