In a battle of tastes and culture, last night Tel Aviv fought it out with Caesarea with performances from Vanessa Mae in Caesarea and Dub FX (not forgetting Flower Fairy) in Tel Aviv. We’re not sure which of the two whetted your whistle, but that’s the joy of the Holy Land – there’s something for everybody!
Dub FX is in fact, the work of Aussie street performer Ben Stanford, together with his fiancee Flower Fairy. They’ve been around for a few years, busking and working their loops and effect pedal to great acclaim throughout the world.
What we like most, apart from their amazing beats, is their independence. All they use is the power of their performances, word of mouth and good ol’ Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. No big record company to boss them about. Though if they keep going at this rate, surely the temptation of mega bucks from a big record contract will be winging its way in their direction…
Last night’s show has already seen a ton of YouTube uploads, always a sign that things were good…seems like it was a cracker!
Here’s the opening song from the Dub FX gig at the Barby in Tel Aviv…
