Duran Duran to perform in Israel in July

Scream season is in full force this year in Israel! What with Justin Bieber’s recent performance, and Enrique Iglesias also lined up to perform at the end of May, the scream factor just notched up a little higher what with the news that 80s greats Duran Duran will be performing on July 30 in Tel Aviv.

Tel Aviv’s Exhibition Grounds will host the all-conquering boy band from the 1980s, the band that had the girls swooning and literally wetting themselves (well, at least in my class at school). For ticket info, call *9066. Prices are 295 shekels per ticket. Cheap for a slice of genuine boy band greatness, we say.

The boys from Birmingham, England, will be in Israel as part of their European tour. This is actually their second visit to the Holy Land, after they performed back in 1994 in Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Part of the awesome New Romantic movement at the start of the 1980s, Duran Duran have sold over 100 million records. And we are taking a stab in the dark here, but are guessing the percentage of female Duran Duran record buyers is probably mid-90s upwards…

Some of their biggest hits include “Girls on Film”, “Save a Prayer” and “Ordinary World”. And just to remind some of us how we’ve aged, last month was the 30th anniversary of the band’s first release “Planet Earth”, check it out below…

Don’t forget to check out our guide to who else is coming to perform over the coming months in Israel (including Suede, Bob Dylan and Andrea Bocelli).
