Alternative Brit rockers Placebo have proven themselves to have a bit more bottle than others of late (ahem, Elvis Costello) and are still scheduled to perform tonight at the Tel Aviv Expo Grounds at 8pm. Unfortunately, two other British bands – the Klaxons and the Gorillaz – who were supposed to be joining Placebo in Tel Aviv this weekend pulled out. Despite calls from parties around the world (you just have to check Twitter to see the kinds of pressure being applied) for them to cancel, Placebo are here and should be turning up tonight…

This weekend kicks off a couple of great weeks of music performers in Israel. Mid-week sees the Pixies hit Tel Aviv, while next week it’s Sir Elton John himself. And with calls for Sir Elton to also get in touch with his conscience, it might be a nervy few days for ticket-holders…
