It’s been a long time coming – and is still far from certain – but Israel’s Health Ministry, in cooperation with the Tourism Ministry, is working on a plan to open the borders to Israel in November 2021!
Of course, we’ve been there before…not so very long ago in the summer, tour groups were actually permitted to enter Israel and things were looking very peachy. But then along came yet another Corona wave and the dream was over. A new target date of August 1 was given, but soon fell to Corona…
Now it seems the extensive vaccination programs that have definitely done some good throughout the world will be the key factor – visitors will apparently need to have had at least two vaccination shots no earlier than six months previously, or the third booster shot. With Israelis now permitted to travel to EVERY country in the world (yes, there are no RED countries for now), there is definitely some room for some reciprocal border-opening.
So yes, some optimism. Some slightly sunnier skies. Let’s hope it happens, and you’re soon checking out some of the most amazing places in Israel!
