Once again, it’s another monthly tourism to Israel record smashed to smithereens – this time, August 2012 breaks all records!
There may be economical woes hitting much of the world, but August 2012 saw 298,000 visitors to Israel, which is 10% up on last year, and 5% up on the record year of 2010. A hit on the average household’s holiday budget doesn’t necessarily mean people have to miss out on amazing destinations (with amazing things to see and do) like Israel…
There was also a BIG rise in the numbers of visitors coming through cruises: make that a whopping 39% increase on last year! There were also 50,000 day visitors, 10% up on August 2011.
All in all, in the period from January to August 2012, some 2.3 million visitors have stopped by in the Holy Land, which is a 7% increase on the same period last year.
And who is a happy camper? Why yes, Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov of course, who had this to say:
The intensive work and focused and professional marketing is showing results in the field. Especially during times of economic crisis, tourism proves itself as a growth engine that injects billions of shekels annually into the economy.
We think it’s time YOU joined the party…
