Jamaican reggae star Sizzla, otherwise known as Sizzla Kalonji, has confirmed he’ll be here for a concert at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv on April 19th.
Sizzla, originally from Kingston, the legendary base of reggae, is one of the most commercially and critically successful contemporary reggae artists and is renowned for the number of releases he puts out (by the age of 35 he had released 40 solo albums!).
Not known for being LGBT friendly, he was banned from performing in the UK in 2004 because of some inflammatory lyrics, and has brought controversy to many of his tour destinations. It will interesting to see the reaction of a very gay-friendly Tel Aviv (Tel Aviv was recently voted best gay city in the world!) to an artist like Sizzla.
