The Jerusalem Light Festival returns to light up the Holy City in 2015!

Light in JerusalemOne of the most popular events of the year has to be the amazing Jerusalem Light Festival, held every June (or thereabouts).

Each year it seems to draw in more and more crowds, and get even more awesome with a different array of light installations and events to light up the magical Old City.

This year the Festival will once again wow thousands of visitors (and we mean a quarter of a million!), spread over 9 days – June 3-11.

This celebration of light in an urban setting, the initiative of the Jerusalem Development Authority, Ministry of Tourism and the Jerusalem Municipality and produced by the Ariel Company, is now part of a prestigious list of light festivals around the world (those festivals in Lyon, Glasgow, Lisbon and additional cities).

This year there will be ten light artists from abroad who, together with local light artists, will present spectacular 3D light exhibits, artistic sculptures and structures, massive light stars and impressive video projections on the Old City’s buildings and walls. These features, combined with outdoors and onstage performances, light and sound, will be displayed at the picturesque alleyways, unique sites and central trails around the Old City of Jerusalem.

The artists will change the Old City’s appearance for the week of the festival and enhance the nightly atmosphere of the ancient city with a magical, artistic and dramatic dimension – it really is quite a magical sight!

Visitors can enjoy different “trails of light” that will be spread across the quarters of the Old City, tracing a path between the light installations. In addition, a unique fair of light-body designers and colorful outdoor performances will enhance the viewing experience.

There is something for everyone at the festival and is FREE to enjoy!
