The Jachnun Bar: the ULTIMATE comfort food in Jerusalem!

Jachnun BarWell, if you’re in the mood for something delicious and comforting, and you’re in Jerusalem, head to the amazing Jachnun Bar in the Machane Yehuda market!

This hidden away little gem (down one of the market’s lesser frequented alleys – see the link in the address below to find out where exactly) serves up some amazing Yemenite dishes, including the legendary jachnun and malawach. But what makes this place special is the twist they add to these legends.

Not sure what jachnun is all about? Read this!

As you can see from the image of the jachnun to the right, they turn it into something like a Yemenite version of sushi, complete with sour cream and some tasty herbs stuffed inside.

The malawach also undergoes a bit of a shake-up at the Jachnun Bar; you can have it as a wrap to take away, or as a sit-down pizza-like dish, as pictured below.

My kids are big fans of these Yemenite delights, as am I, and they were won over by these slightly different versions! My daughter, a celiac, also had something to enjoy – shakshuka – which turned out to be a huge hit!

In summary, the Jachnun Bar kinda rocks, and if you’re feeling peckish, this has to be on your list of go-to places! Very highly recommended!

Location: 30 HaEgoz Street, Jerusalem  (they also have another branch in Jerusalem, at Hillel 28).
Opening Hours: 12 am to 12 pm (I think that means all day!)
You can also find them on Facebook.
