The annual International Hot Air Balloon Festival at Timna Park

Timna Park Hot Air Balloon FestivalAnother great festival heads your way this October – the annual International Hot Air Balloon Festival at Timna Park!

This spectacular event takes place during the Sukkot holiday period, on 3-5 October. And with a backdrop of amazing desert scenery at Timna Park, we doubt there’s a better place to have a hot air balloon festival (though the Gilboa Hot Air Balloon Festival happening in the north might have something to say about that!)…

Timna Park is a great to visit at any time of the year, and this home to some amazing scenery and the first copper mines in the world lies just a few kilometers north of Eilat. Some of the highlights you’ll want to include in your visit here: the Temple of Hathor near the awesome Solomon’s Pillars, the Mushroom, the impressive Arches, and of course, the ancient rock-drawings of hunters and Egyptian battle chariots.

Although the event is spread over 3 days, each of the days is split into two main parts:

  • Morning: From 05:00, see the launching of the hot air balloons, as well as a variety of kids shows, environmentally friendly workshops, and general things to see and do in Timna Park.
  • Evening: From 16:00, see the amazing Night Glow show, full of fire, light and color, plus other shows including an elevated “breathtaking” crane show…

Festival tickets cost 235 shekels per person if you want to sleep over (on the evenings of the 3rd and 4th October), including coffee and croissants in the morning, flying balloons and the night show – call the Timna Park offices for more info (08-6316756). But if you just fancy coming to see one morning’s events, tickets are 79 shekels per person. Evening tickets are 69 shekels only. For more info, call *6226.
