UPDATE: Due to poor ticket sales the festival has now been canceled.
Plugfest 2013 promises to wipe out the pain of the seemingly imminent cancellation of the Lollapalooza Festival (the local official site has been removed and mention of Israel seems to have disappeared) with a 3 day lineup of local and international names – in the heart of the desert!
Yes, yes, in what promises to be the very first festival featuring big name local talent AND international acts, we’d highly recommend you keep May 9-11 free in your diary!
The festival will take place in Kfar HaNodkim, which is located in the Kana’im valley in the Judean desert, between Arad and the ancient mountaintop fortress of Masada, and will feature concerts spread over THREE days, on THREE different stages. Accommodation will be available in Bedouin style tents, and there are also guest house lodges. See the resort site for more info: www.hanokdim.com
Some of the acts already confirmed (click on the artist for a blast of what they’ll do for you!):
- Azealia Banks
- !!! Chk Chk Chk
- Lee Scratch Perry
- 2ManyDJs
- Jessie Ware
- Tinariwen
- CSS
- John Talabot
- Adi Ulmansky
- Tiger Love
Currently tickets cost 700 shekels for the full three days, with under 12s getting in FREE, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. See the official Plugfest Festival site for more details.
And here’s a little promo for the festival, just to get you in the mood…
