Light in Jerusalem 2010 – and then there was light!

For the last couple of days there has been an awesome light show going on over at the Old City in Jerusalem.  Every night up to the 16th June, from 20:00 – 24:00, you can browse the streets and alleyways of the Old City and check out the amazing light festival. And the best bit – you can check it out for FREE!

This is the second year running the Light in Jerusalem festival has been held, giving us a terrific, alternative view of the Holy City and what light can do in an urban setting.

This year’s festival will include five artists from abroad who will display some of the most respected work in the field. There will also be street performers incorporating theatre, dance and acrobatics along with lighting and pyrotechnics.

As the festival organizers put it:

Through light one can rediscover the city’s lines, geography and strength. The Festival of Light in the Old City will provide through the use of light, a dramatic and artistic dimension to the Old City’s nights. From the illumination of architecture to light statues, the festival will be a public and family oriented celebration that artists from different fields will partake in.

Check out the official website for details of how to get there, what to see and even download a free guide to the festival. And here’s a clip from last year to give you a taste…
