Want to celebrate New Years Eve in Tel Aviv and not sure where to go?

UPDATE: This post was for 2012’s events, click here for 2014’s finest parties, restaurants and concerts!

Well, many bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs will be celebrating New Years Eve, as the event becomes more and more of a celebration for Israelis (don’t forget, there is a Jewish New Year, typically celebrated in September), but here’s a quick guide to five awesome parties and events where you can truly bring in the New Year in style!

* Just so you know, New Years Eve is often referred to as Silvester by nearly all Israelis (thanks to the Catholic Church’s celebration of Saint Silvester, the Bishop of Rome during the time of Constantine).

The Kitchen Market Silvester Feast

The Kitchen Market, the renowned and very cool restaurant above the market in Tel Aviv Port, is holding a special evening’s feast designed to make your taste buds weep with joy…read more here (only in Hebrew unfortunately). Just be aware there are two sittings, the first between 18:30 and 21:00 (275 shekels), the second from 21:00 (300 shekels).

1984 comes to The Block

The Block (Derekh Salame 157) is one of Tel Aviv’s hottest clubs, and on New Years Eve they’ll be celebrating the 80s in style! Expect a fest of New Wave, Disco, Eurotrash and Europop, thanks to DJs Idan Gavriel, Tal Argaman and Tzach. The action kicks off at 22:30, and costs 30 shekels. From 23:30 it will cost 40/60 shekels. Age minimum: 25+

Jazz in the Port

Just round the corner from the Kitchen Market, the Shablul Jazz Club (Hangar 13, Tel Aviv Port) will be celebrating with Chicago Blues legend Mark Rashkow. The show starts at 21:30, so call ahead to reserve a spot – 03-5461891. All those attending will be entered into a raffle and a chance to win a signed guitar!

Street Party in South Tel Aviv

Head to the Achoti House on Matalon 70 in South Tel Aviv for what promises to be a great little street party! The action starts at 20:00, and as the party is being organized by local residents, expect an intimate and happening little bloc party vibe! Everyone is invited – see the Facebook event page for more details.

New Years Eve at Maoz Bar

The cute little Moaz Bar (King George 32) will be hosting DJ Tordes from Israeli band The Apples, plus the band ImLashon for some real, funky tunes. The action starts at 21:30. It promises to be funky – and FREE – and with a reputation as a bit of a meat bar, could be a great place to find your next Tel Aviv lover.
