Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival

The Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival returns, led by artistic director Elena Bashkirova, and featuring prominent international and Israeli musicians.

During the 5-day festival, 7 exhilarating concerts will take place at the YMCA Auditorium in Jerusalem. One of the most intriguing guests will be the renowned German composer/clarinetist Jörg Widmann on his first visit to Israel. Widmann is one of the most foremost contemporary musicians, his works internationally celebrated and his clarinet performances attracting music lovers the world over.

Alongside the works of composers such as Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms and Mozart, the Festival will present wonderful works from lesser-known and contemporary composers. This year’s program will also celebrate the waltz genre with works by Johann Strauss II, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Poulenc and Richard Strauss. In the final concert, a traditional Viennese ensemble will perform waltzes and polkas composed by the great ‘waltz kings’, Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss father and son.
