Driving into Jerusalem to visit the Old City? Things just got a little easier…

If you’re looking to drive into Jerusalem to visit the Old City, a new shuttle service has made things so much easier!

Even though we’ve been here for years, driving into Jerusalem has always been a bit of a headache, especially when we’re not so familiar with the route, where to park, etc. We’re guessing you’re in a similar boat…

Starting in October 2014, the Municipality of Jerusalem has started a new service: you can now park near the old train station, hop on a shuttle to the Old City, tour the holy sites, and shuttle right back to your car – all for a flat daily rate of only 17 shekels (Jerusalem residents pay 20% less).

Jerusalem ShuttleWhen entering Jerusalem, watch out for the special blue, red and white signs – featuring a bus with wings (see to the right) – to the parking site, which is located next to what is now known as the First Station, very close to the German Colony and Yemin Moshe neighborhoods.

Shuttles leave every 20 minutes.

Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday they run from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Monday and Thursday they run from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Friday they run from 8:00 am until one hour before Shabbat.
Saturday night they run from one hour after Shabbat until midnight (in the summer).

The line runs on a different format during the holidays.

The shuttles include stops in the Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall, Dung Gate, the City of David, and back to the First Station.

Happy Shuttling!
