Crokoloko: a crocodile farm deep in the Negev desert!

crokolokoIf you’re in the mood for something snappy, head to the Crokoloko crocodile farm, deep in the Negev desert!

Located south of the Dead Sea at Ein HaTzeva, just off Road 90, Crokoloko is a great little park for learning all about crocs!

We popped by as part of our caravan tour in Israel – they also have a small parking lot for caravans, perfect for those of you looking for a real desert experience – and owner Orit showed us her collection of dinosaur survivors, including a large collection of eggs and baby crocs.

Orit does a great job of explaining all about crocs, and we were even treated to the amazing sight of a croc being born before our very eyes! Apparently we got lucky, as they only hatch during July and August, something to take into consideration (note that during the summer months the crocs are also very lethargic during the day, something else to consider).

Well worth a stopover if you’re on your way to/from Eilat! It’s highly recommended to book a spot in advance, as Orit guides groups throughout the day and might not be available if you just turn up out of the blue…
