The annual Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival hits 14 this year; another year of almost two weeks packed with international performers for those who love chamber music.
This year there are tributes in songs and piano music to world renowned composers Gustav Mahler and Franz Liszt, as well as a special Festival commission by German composer, Matthias Pintscher. Other performers scheduled to appear at the Festival, which runs from September 3rd to the 16th, include flutist Emmanuel Pahud and Israelis Guy Graunstein and Zvi Plesser.
One of the themes prevalent through the Festival this year is dedicated to the Jewish composers who did not survive the Holocaust, but who would have had an undoubted impact on world music had they lived. Expect to hear a number of pieces belonging to this lost generation.
Another theme to watch out for is dedicated to the master himself, Beethoven…
The Festival takes place at the Mary Nathaniel Hall in the Jerusalem YMCA.
You can purchase tickets from the YMCA offices, which are open most of the week. Call to purchase tickets: 02-6250444
