Wait…what? A beach in Jerusalem??? Yessss!
This summer, for the first time ever, there is a beach in Jerusalem! And it even comes with its own surfing simulator!
It’s FREE to get in, and is open every day from 08:00 to 02:00.
The location? The northern area of the First Station, the new culture and shopping complex in Jerusalem.
Watch out for a kiddie area, where there will be lots of activities for the kids to enjoy (for a small fee), like kite building and wading pools, plus there will also be the 18 meter surf simulator, which is suitable for children aged 3 and above (the strength of the surf is adjusted accordingly, don’t worry). The simulator will cost 50 shekels an hour or 100 shekels for the day.
And just like in Tel Aviv, you can also enjoy a volleyball court, matkot (paddleball), backgammon, nargilas, open beach showers and alternative seating.
There are also movie nights to watch out for, drum circles, live concerts and other great events.
For those of you familiar with other beaches in Israel, you might go away feeling a tad disappointed. But hey, for thoise of you who are not and who are stuck in Jerusalem – head to the beach, baby!
