Tickling the ivories at the Tel Aviv Piano Festival

Piano Festival Tel AvivIf you love the sound of amazing pianists (including some of the biggest names in the Israeli music industry) at work, then head down to the Piano Festival in Tel Aviv on 22-27 November.

The Piano Festival kicks off on the 22nd November with a concert at 20:00 by renowned Israeli singer-songwriter Shlomo Gronich (a taste of what he can do…), at the Mircaz Einav Concert Hall in Gan Ha’ir. That concert is then followed at 21:30 by the very talented Archady Duchin (a taste…), who is accompanied by Alma Zohar. Tickets for each of these two shows cost 140 shekels.

Over the next four days the Festival moves to the various halls of the Suzanne Dellal Center in Neve Tzedek. Some of the highlights include:

  • 23 November: Eran Tzur (140 shekels), Roni Daloomi (a previous “A Star is Born” winner, 90 shekels), and Ehud Banai (140 shekels)
  • 24 November: Boaz Sharabi (140 shekels), Carolina (90 shekels), Asaf Avidan (the future of Israeli rock and pop, 140 shekels) and Asaf Amdorski (100 shekels)
  • 25 November: Ivri Lider (the Coldplay of Israeli pop, 140 shekels), Yael Levy (70 shekels), Knesiat HaSechel (140 shekels) and Eric Berman (90 shekels)
  • 26 November: A variety of shows for kids in the morning, including a Beatles collection, while in the evening there’s Yoni Bloch (90 shekels), Yasmin Levy (140 shekels), and Rami Kleinstein (140 shekels, a taste…) among others.

The Festival closes with a show by Aviv Geffen (a taste…) accompanied by Avitar Banai on the 27 November. The show will be held at the Noga Hall in Yafo and tickets will cost 140 shekels.

It doesn’t look like any of the songs at the Piano Festival will be in English, but some of the piano playing will surely make up for that…

Here’s the complete schedule of the festival, only in Hebrew unfortunately.
