Baryshnikov coming to Israel to wow “In Paris”

Baryshnikov in IsraelOne of the world’s greatest ever performers, Mikhail Baryshnikov, will be coming to Israel in November to lead the line in eight performances of his much acclaimed show In Paris.

Yes indeed, the man a modern generation will perhaps more fondly know as Alexander Petrovsky from Sex and the City, the man who caught the attention of Carrie Bradshaw for more than a fleeting moment, will be here to remind us of what made him such a force during the 70s and 80s.

The man who first took up ballet in the 60s and defected to the West in 1974 at the height of his fame, has won the hearts of many a ballet fan over the years. For now we will just have to remind ourselves of those glorious ballet moments (see the clip below), because Baryshnikov and his team of actors from the Baryshnikov Arts Center, will be attempting to win over a new generation of fans with their In Paris shows at the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv from November 15-21.

Yes, Baryshnikov the actor, not the ballet dancer, will be here, but is still expected to fill the main hall of the Suzanne Dellal Center with ease.

The play is set in the early 1930s, with Baryshnikov starring as the retired army general who falls in love with a much younger woman. The play itself will be in Russian with Hebrew subtitles and a synopsis in English.

So yes, book now while you still can, as tickets are expected to sell out quickly! Call 03-5105656, or visit www.suzannedellal.org.il.
