Yesterday saw one of the 20th century’s biggest sex icons, Pamela Anderson, hit the Holy Land for her second visit in a matter of months. Her last visit was a promotional visit for both PETA and the Dancing with the Stars TV show. This time she’ll be mixing in some of her passion for animal rights with a fashion shoot for lingerie firm Bonita de Mas (where she’ll be replacing Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli).
Pammie has already caused a stir (let’s face it, she’s going to cause a stir wherever she goes) on her first night, when she went out for dinner at Tel Aviv vegan restaurant Buddha Burger.
But asked her opinions on the Holy Land, and the local paparazzi swooned:
“I love Israel, I think it’s a beautiful place, very forward-thinking people, really wonderful. And it’s gorgeous and beautiful here, and I think it’s a really important part of the world.”
Meanwhile, for a change of pace, legendary opera singer Jose Carreras arrived on Monday for his first ever show in Israel (on Thursday night at the Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv). He’ll be performing live with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
Carreras has been rehearsing in Jerusalem since arriving and was expected to visit the Old City of Jerusalem today (but the weather might have thrown a bit of a spanner into those plans). Thursday will see him travel into Tel Aviv for final rehearsals.
The show is being sponsored by the Spanish Embassy in Israel to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Spain. Ole!
