I won’t bore you with tales of how many kebabs I wolfed down on such a glorious BBQ-type day, or how many fireworks I heard sizzling and popping in the night sky…instead I’ll let the following videos give you an idea of what it’s like in Israel on Independence Day.
First up, some fireworks from the roof of City Hall, Tel Aviv (Kikar Rabin).
The obligatory beach scenes from Ashkelon beach, which is the southern most beach on Israel’s Mediterranean coast, close to Gaza and an hour’s drive from Tel Aviv. The video includes a lot of Hebrew, but I thought it might be interesting to see some beach action. Basically everybody is wishing Israel a happy 61st birthday, including those two cute girls in the middle of the clip who manage to fluff their lines non-stop…obligatory fireworks at the end of the clip!
Last up, some Israeli rock from The Jews (HaYehudim), performing live at an Independence Day party in Petah Tikva (just outside Tel Aviv).
