Euro 2012 in Israel: where to catch the action in the Holy Land!

where to watch Euro 2012 in IsraelOK, so Israel might not be in it, but the Euro 2012 tournament is about to kick off – and we’re going to tell you the best places to enjoy a beer and some classy international footie!

If you’re in any of the big cities in Israel, you’ll be pleased to know that many bars will be screening the games live. Israelis love their football, the only question is, who will they be supporting…? We have a feeling many of the locals will be rooting for Spain (home to Barcelona of course, much-much-loved in Israel).

Where to catch some Euro 2012 action in Tel Aviv?

In Tel Aviv catch the best of the Euro 2012 action in these bars (there are, of course, many other bars screening the games, but these are probably your best options):

Molly Blooms: On the corner of HaYarkon 100, is the best Irish bar in the country, and the perfect place to go if you’re rooting for the Irish! But if you’re not, get there before 8pm for cheap pints, or wear the shirts of the countries playing that night to get a free chaser! Also applies to their brother pub, Leo Blooms, in Raul Wallenberg.

HaMaoz: Located at 32 King George Street, HaMaoz will be celebrating with free munchies for watching fans. Also watch out for nightly specials when certain teams are playing…for example, deals on Italian Campari when Italy play.

Otto Bar: Head to Rothschild 45 for some nice deals (buy one beer, get another free, plus free chasers for the late games) and they will also be selling footie shirts and other goodies.

Meir: Located at Dizengoff 190, Meir bar will be having a 39 shekel all-you-can-drink of the local stuff deal, or 49 shekels for all you can drink of the more refined international brews.

Hemingway: Reines 2 is the place to be if you’re after some goals AND some chasers – they’ll be giving away chasers for every goal scored in the early games! You can also drink as much beer as you can for 56 shekels, while for the later games, they have a deal of 1.8 liters of beer and 4 chasers for 100 shekels!

Avant Garde: Located at HaBarzel 3, Avant Garde is one of Tel Aviv’s oldest sports bars, and will be the place to be if you’re feeling peckish. They are doing some great additions to meals for teams playing that night: for example, Chicken Kiev will be the star on the nights Russia play. In addition, for some of their regular top meals they’ve added a KILO of food in weight! Go hungry!

Mate: One of our fave bars in Tel Aviv with three popular branches (Dizengoff 226, Lincoln 11, and Vital 2), they will be having some big discounts on many beers, while the big prize (a lottery draw) is a chance to watch the Euro 2012 Final in the PRIVATE room at Lincoln 11, with FREE food and drink AND up to five friends!

Where to catch some Euro 2012 action elsewhere in Israel?

If you’re in Jerusalem there are a couple of great places, among many others, that will be going footie mad in June…Cafe Lerner, Churchill 1, will be having a buy one beer get one free special, while showing the games on a huge screen. Alternatively, head over to Abraham Hostel and their new rooftop bar for some Euro action and some friendly tourists. See their Facebook page for more info.

If you’re in Ranaa’na, head to Edison on 282 Ahuza Street, where they’ll be handing out free chasers to all for every goal scored. There will also be tapas created especially for the Euros, on a country by country basis. Bless ’em!

Heading over to the adjacent Kfar Saba, stop by at Piano Piano at the G Center for a cut price pizza meal, or sit at the bar to grab a buy one get one free special on beers and wines.

In Herzliya, the Bourbon Street sports bar/restaurant at HaManofim 8 is the place to be: most beers are on special offer while the ladies get a free glass of champagne. The games will be shown on a number of large HD screens.
