5th Annual Terravino Wine Festival @ the Dead Sea

If you like a wee drop of the vino, you should be heading on down to the Dead Sea this week. That’s where you’ll find the fifth annual Mediterranean International Wine and Spirit Challenge, known as Terravino, which started on Sunday 21st and will end on Saturday, November 27th.

The competition will have some 700 wines and spirits from 25 countries on display, including some big players from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, USA, Australia and South Africa. The prizes to be had include best wine of country, best red and white wine, best kosher Israeli wine and best boutique wine. You can catch the vino carnival at the Daniel Dead Sea Hotel in Ein Bokek.

Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America, had this to say:

The Terravino festival is a highly anticipated event that attests to the growing importance of the Israeli wine industry. It will feature a diverse selection of wines from some of the world’s top wine-producing countries.

As well as the wine competition, you can also enjoy a wide variety of wine-related festivities, including wine-tasting workshops, plus an olive oil and cheese fair, and lectures from Israeli winemakers.
