We love coming across great videos of Israel, especially when they’re made by non-Israelis or tourists as they often manage to get a feel for the place that often passes by those of us who live here.

This is one of the best we’ve come across, quality stuff from Matthew Brown, a guy who spent some time in Israel and captured some of the faces and moments that make a visit to the Holy Land so memorable.

Spend four minutes out of your day to watch this, you won’t regret it!

Akko: the movie

Here’s a quick glimpse of the Old City of Akko (also known as Acre), one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the Holy Land.

The Old City is a great place to spend a day out, and after browsing the cute, colorful market, head down to the port where you can feel like a real tourist with pony rides and boat rides out into the Mediterranean for 10 shekels a person…full report coming soon!

As tourism numbers to Israel steam ever upwards (yep, 2010 was a record breaker), it seems that news of Israel’s popularity has spread far and wide across the galaxy. Oh yes, just last week a UFO was spotted over the Old City of Jerusalem, and amazingly caught on film by a fellow tourist!

If you were ever in doubt that UFOs exist at all, this is an amazing video to banish away those doubts. Amazing stuff. There’s even a second video, from a different angle, which you can also see below. As we say in Martian: “Zxcddfrkj idddgtooooooop!”

Steven Bauer has sexy thoughts about Bar Refaeli (in her new movie “Session”)

Israel’s finest export, Bar Refaeli, has completed work on her first movie, Session. Billed as a psychological thriller, Bar gets her acting feet wet alongside a mature Steven Bauer (he of Wiseguy and Scarface fame, of course). The movie doesn’t look overly amazing it has to be said, but are Bar fans going to catch this movie because of her acting skills? Mmm, we didn’t think so…

The movie is officially out in early May in the US, but here in Israel it’s out this week.

What do you think? Oscar material?

Winter in Tel Aviv

Last week it may well have been beach weather, but this week the rain has hit town. Yes, yes, I know, rain in Israel, unbelievable! Here’s a great little video showing what winter in Tel Aviv is like, well worth a look!

Flash mob time: Hebrew University does Glee’s “Somebody to love”

OK, so first up, I still struggle to understand the fuss about Glee, but that’s probably just me, what with a combination of never being a fan of sing-a-long type shows (yawn) and my long gone teenage days, the days when I would probably have been able to get my ‘ead round it.

But here’s a little clip based on the Glee show, and in particular their version of Queen’s “Somebody to love” (I hope they realise that I’m using this as a lullaby to send my kids off to sleep). A load of Hebrew University students in Jerusalem decided to kick off their school year (on 10.10.10) with their take on the classic Queen song, filmed in a single shot. Love that Freddie Mercury lookalike near the end!

Who was it that said students have got too much time on their hands?
