Picture of the Week LXXXIV

The start of this week saw some terrific storms hit the coastal plain, including, of course, Tel Aviv. A couple of days earlier I’d actually been sitting on the beach with my kids and having a paddle. But this week saw a reminder from the big fella in the sky that it is, after all, December.

The pic was taken by Shachar Laudon, a guy from the suburbs of Tel Aviv. Nice shot!

Picture of the Week LXXXIII

This week the rains have hit Israel. As I’m writing this, thunder and lightning is hitting the Galilee and a big storm is apparently on its way. So nope, it’s not always piping hot and sunny, although December on the beach (twice for me last week) in the Northern hemisphere is pretty much unbeatable, I think you’ll agree…

The pic was taken by Shlomi Kramer, a guy from Tel Aviv, who has caught the spirit of autumn in this shot. Check out some of his other great pics.

This week we’re off to Brazil. Er, I mean the sun drenched sands of Tel Aviv beach, of course. But take a look at this pic – despite it lacking any colour, I’m instantly reminded of Brazil. Then again, it’s probably just me…that’s one awesome sky though!

The pic was taken by Yuli G, a guy from Israel with some more mighty fine black and whites in his collection.

This week we’re back down to Tel Aviv for a stopover in Tel Aviv Port. One of the main attractions in Tel Aviv these days with a multitude of bars and clubs and unique shops. And, of course, the Med just a step away…

The picture was taken by eirad, a guy from somewhere or other (he doesn’t tell us) with some nice shots in his collection, love those portraits! As usual, click to big.

This week we have a special guest over for picture of the week, all the way from sunny England. My old man. Yes indeed. After a great two week stay, my parents flew back to England last night. But not before I downloaded all their snaps to grab a couple of crackers. I loved this one, a sweet stall in Carmel market, Tel Aviv. And if you look very carefully you can even get a glimpse of moi, camera poised…

Ozzy Osbourne LIVE in Tel Aviv

He came, he saw, he swore, and he conquered. Ozzy Osbourne brought his Ozzfest to Tel Aviv last week and apparently brought the house down. Here’s a clip from the encore, with Ozzy letting rip with a fire-hose as Paranoid plays, loudly!

Picture of the Week LXIX

Time for some sunset action from Tel Aviv beach, but we’re not really heading there for the sunset this week. It’s all about the timing in this one…

The picture was taken by Shay Sapir, who has some very fine pics of Israel, mostly Tel Aviv street scenes, in his collection.

Champions League glory (ahem…) awaits Hapoel Tel Aviv!

OK, so a little less of the glory. Let’s just say if they grab a point and score a goal or two they’ll have done OK. Or at least better than last year’s Israeli effort, from Maccabi Haifa, who didn’t grab one single point or score one little goal.

Thursday’s draw for the Champions League groups stages, which Hapoel Tel Aviv have reached for the first time in their history, saw them draw Lyon, Benfica and Schalke. Not the biggest of the European giants they could have ended up with, but still tough, tough games.

We wish ‘em luck!
