Picture of the Week XCIII
This week we head down to the Sea of Galilee for a great sunset shot. Taken from the eastern banks of the Sea of Galilee (the Kinneret as it’s known in Hebrew), I really love this one! There’s something almost “holy” about the pic, or is it just me?
The shot was taken by yanivba, a guy from Jerusalem. Check out some of his other shots here.

We stay in Jerusalem this week, and into the Old City we go once again. And time for some home made lemonade to quench that thirst, as we head down the legendary Via Dolorosa.
You’ll find plenty of these home made containers in Israel, full of various juices and vibrant colors, usually in street corner kiosk-type shops, and manned by a toothless old geezer. Definitely a great alternative to the regular Coke or Sprite. Love the zesty feel to this pic, taken by henrik.schwarz, who has some great pix of Israel here.

This week we head over to Jerusalem once again, and to the holiest of topics – food! One of the sweetest things you’ll come across in Israel is the Arab desserts, especially the baklava, which I think the dessert pictured is a type of. Very sticky, very sweet!
The pic was taken at a small Arab cafe in the Old City of Jerusalem by thegreattiny, a lady in Jerusalem who has a very interesting collection of shots.

This week we head down to the surf of Tel Aviv beach.
One thing you notice when you first step onto the golden sands of Tel Aviv beach is the number of surfers perched on their boards, waiting for the “big one” just beyond the paddling area of the average swimmer. Come rain or shine they’re out there. Inspiring enough that it got me to learn how to surf…
The pic was taken by T Jak, a Russian lady now living in Scotland, who it seems was here for a few days last year.

Off to Yafo Flea Market we go this week, in search of some cool local graffiti. There is a lot of graffiti to be found in Tel Aviv-Yafo but this has to be one of the more artistic I’ve ever seen, great work!

So, it’s off to the Dead Sea we go, and time to plonk our bright red beach chair in the right spot. This is a great pic, very nicely composed, in what is one of our very favorite places to visit in the Holy Land.
The pic was taken by henrik.schwarz, who has some great shots worth checking out. Click to big.

This week we’re back in Tel Aviv to stop and stare at the monstrosity that is Tel Aviv City Hall. Not sure what they were thinking when this was designed and built, but it sure is one ugly building. So ugly it’s photogenic, if you get what I mean.
The pic was taken by the amazing schnapper_j, a guy currently living in Kfar Saba who has some great shots to browse through.

First of all, Happy New Year! May all your dreams come true in 2011.
Secondly, here is a great shot from Jerusalem, as an Orthodox Jew (maybe even a rabbi?) hangs out his knickers to dry in the sun. OK, they’re not his knickers, but it’s still a great shot. The pic was taken by judi333, a lass from Jerusalem who has some great shots of the capital in her collection.
