This week’s pic is of one of the most well-known landmarks in the Holy Land the world, the Dome of the Rock. This Islamic shrine that sits on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is in fact the oldest Islamic building in the world. Personally I’ve never stepped inside but have walked around the courtyard outside, camera a-flashing.

The picture was taken by Serithian, who has some mighty fine HD pics from all around Israel in his photo stream. Well worth checking out.

Yep, even the religious get to dip their toes in the Med - or do they? To tell you the truth, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them dip their toes anywhere, probably down to a modesty prohibiting thingeemajib.

Anyway, the pic was taken by Paulina Sza, a lady from Warsaw/Tel Aviv who has some mighty fine people shots in her stream. Go see.

Another slice of life in the Holy Land, this time in the form of some Middle Eastern delicacies - olives - at the market. Delicacies that I personally can’t stand, but they are everywhere in this part of the world (for example you might see them in a pub, served as munchies alongside your beer), so sometimes you’ve just got to chew and smile…

The picture was taken by tamarmosh, a Tel Aviv female bartender (so can understand where she got the inspiration for this shot!). She’s got some powerful people shots in her collection!

This week’s picture comes from down south, in the hot, steamy desert region of Israel (in the mountains around Eilat to be precise). It’s pretty darned hot there these days, as summer kicks in, so if you’re heading in that direction, cover yourself up and drink lots of water. But this picture was taken at sunrise and has a great, cooling effect…

Highly recommended to click this to make it big - really, go click! It was taken by Avi Morag, who has some gorgeous shots in his stream, and who was featured here, almost a year ago.

As summer clicks into gear, here’s a great shot of a typical seafront scene in Israel in Any Town (but probably taken in Tel Aviv because I think only Tel Aviv promenade has that special spiral paving). The beaches are usually packed at the weekend, and through July and August also mid-week, and prove a great attraction and social gathering point for friends, family and lovers alike.
